The Noma Guide to Fermentation
Illustrations


Noma in Copenhagen was voted worlds best restaurant several times and is considered a pioneer in fermentation, which became a trend meanwhile. The book was designed by Atelier Dyakova, London. Paula did all the illustrations in the book including 9 chapter illustrations and the cover illustration. Her drawings show what photographs can't tell. The book bears her signature and establishes an own visual world for fermentation.

Theater Paderborn Spielzeit 2018/19

For the 2018/19 season programme for Theatre Paderborn the team from the theatre came up with the idea to work with statistics and information in the illustrations. So we gathered a lot of different data and statistics for the topics and themes of the pieces and made illustrations based on that. Some pretty surprising info–graphics emerged in the making. The magazine and folders are printed with a fluorescent colour.

For the 2017/18 season programme for Theater Paderborn we did the illustrations together, Paula drawing and painting and Kleon photographing and doing the collages. A strange universe of pictures grew from these pieces.

Tribute to Tom Petty
Poster for Typojanchi

Typojanchi 2017 asked to do a typographical poster for the International Typography Biennale in Seoul. We decided to use a quota by Tom Petty: "Excuse me if i, have some place in my mind, where i go time to time." We also did an animated version, you can view it with the app Artivive.

Samsung Wallpapers

We were asked to create some wallpapers for the Samsung Galaxy S10 and S10 plus for the Samsung Explore Blog.
The motive should somehow deal with Switzerland and its culture. The camera hole in the upper right of the screen should be integrated into the picture. Paula decided to do it all black and white, while Kleon couldn't resist to splash some color on the OLED screens...

"Borgonovo Music Revue" features a wide collection of songs from Kleons different bands and projects in new acoustic versions. They were recorded in a couple of snowy nights in winter 2019 in an beautiful ancient chalet in Borgonovo, Bergell.

Jazzfestival Willisau Animated Poster wins Bronze at Swiss Poster Award.

Our Animated Poster for Jazzfestival Willisau was selected for Swiss Poster Award and was awarded with the Bronze Prize for Out of Home Innovations. The Poster was also selected for Taiwan International Graphic Design Award. See the project.

is an on-going project by Paula Troxler. The Calendar 2020 shows the drawings that she made exactly a year ago. Every Day a Drawing 2020 is dedicated to one topic every week. A object, a circumstance or a person gave inspiration to the drawings. The illustrations are continuations, disputes and interpretations of words and definitions.

For the 2019 edition of Jazzfestival Willisau we created a very colourful and vibrant design. It is full of energy, rhythm and tone. The posters were printed with additional fluorescent colours to add even more energy. The design was also animated and adapted to do different media like shirts, shopping bags, stage design and merchandise. We even made an instagram filter, you can check it out here!

After "Shades of Blue", "Red Carpet" is the second album by Christof Mahnig & die Abmahnung.
The artwork is all about blood and cells and veins and flow. It shows the pulsating, the rhythmic, the beat of the improvisation. The body is the stage with the red carpet streaming through it.

For the Exhibition/Experiment "Familien-Modelle" Paula took a crash-course in the ancient technique of fresco painting to do this mural in Shedhalle, Zürich. The painting is based on a recorded interview which tells the story of a family. How they lived, how they would love to live. How the mother sees the family. Paula is one of 16 artists who take part in this exhibition.

For the website for Sofalesungen we worked with Martin Fuzzy Härtlein again. He is our favourite web-developer and a great thinker. We wanted the website to be informative and clear – easy to use – but still poetic and light. On the startpage you find a randomly changing picture of a sofa somewhere in a beautiful surreal scenery drawn by Paula.

The exhibition "Räuber" shows a wide variety of Robbers to children and their brave parents. Hands, type and eyes lead through the exhibition, everywhere you are observed or might get robbed. you can also become a robber yourself and look through the eyes of large robber figures.
The printed F4 Poster is a 5 color Silkscreen and is available at the shop of the museum Muks in Riehen.

For the permanent exhibition of the Bröhan Museum Berlin we designed 4 eight-page folding brochures, which explain the respective epochs (Art Deco, Art Nouveau, Berliner Secession and Functionalism). The illustrations show exhibits from the collection.

Illustrations and Animations for "Hunger" Exhibition at Mühlerama, Zürich

To spotlight different topics emotionally and guide the visitor, Paula created a layer of illustrations that runs like a thread throughout the exhibition. Our animations were beamed on 3-dimensional objects at the museum.

The Poster Moby Dick is part of the exhibition  "Queens of their Discipline – Posters by Women Designers“ at Museum für Gestaltung Zürich.

The poster is the supreme discipline in graphic design. The exhibition tells the story of the poster, using exclusively reprints of works by international women designers. These include well-known figures like Irma Boom, Ursula Hiestand, or Lora Lamm and also Paula Troxler with her poster of Moby Dick from 2010, which have been selected at many poster competitions worldwide. For an initiative by Bewegung für Radikale Empathie, We designed 3 Posters. These were printed and are now touring through in several Cities in Southern Germany to give the population hope and faith in times of the Corona pandemic.
